I've been a design engineer since before the term existed. I learned graphic design in high school and got my first design job while studying software engineering in university. After that, I went to design school and moved into web design and development. That led to a full-time software engineering role that grew to include design work too. My colleagues called me "Unicorn" because I could work across both worlds with ease. Today I run my own creative practice covering product design and engineering, taking projects from the first sketch all the way to a shipped product.
